Graham Mark Young "Mon Sequiturs" (4 stars)
Certainly an odd CD, this one by GM Young, the lead guitarist with the Urban Jazz Guerrillas, a formation dedicated to a style between jazz-rock and acid. Odd, because it comprises various musical shades, sometimes seeming almost as if [we’re] listening to a sound column of Ennio Morricone, at other points, his nature as a grand soloist prevails, nodding to (acknowledging) the sound of Terje Rypdal and holdsworthian solos. It is a difficult work to listen to, but I believe it would be honest to define it as one of the most valid CDs of this recent period. The most absorbing track is the sensational "Ad Astra" in which Young gives rein to all his skill. It remains, however, the testament of a grand talent to keep well in mind for future works; a little genius and a great performer.
